Ever since 1911, when we launched Geisha Brand King Crabmeat, we have continued to improve upon our reputation as high quality canned fruits, seafood, oriental vegetables and mushrooms in the United States. Additionally, we sell these products as well as other farm products in Europe, the Middle-East, Africa, Asia, Sri Lanka and Papua New Guinea.

The company was begun by two entrepreneurs, the two Nozaki brothers, early in the 20th century. They established Nozaki Brothers, Inc. San Francisco in 1907, their main business being the importation of agricultural products, leather goods, and other items from Japan. They also worked in a local canning factory, and with this knowledge became involved in the canning industry, selling canned crabmeat in the U.S.

In 1909, Nozaki introduced the North Sea Brand in the United States. Their early marketing efforts were aimed at the small American independent grocery stores. In order to further expand their business, they began to sell their products in Boston and Chicago by mail order.

In time, their business prospered, and the company continued to grow successfully. This growth gave the Nozaki Brothers the confidence that canned goods would be successful and continue to grow in the United States. With this in mind, they realized that their trademark and brand name would be critical to their success. Drawing on past experience, they found that pictures of Mount Fuji and "Geisha" were widely recognized by the American public. In 1911 the Geisha trademark was placed on Nozaki products, and "Geisha" was officially registered in the United States in 1912. Nozaki & Co., Ltd. was merged into Kawasho Corpration in April 1, 1999.
